Cactus Club Cafe was established in 1988 by one-time Earls waiters Richard Jaffray and Scott Morison. The partners started with a cafe called “Café Cucamonga,” which they changed in 1988 to support the organization of the Cactus Club.

In 1996, the company expanded in Alberta during a financially challenging time. The neighbourhood prospered. By 1998, its company had grown to 10 sites in British Columbia and Alberta. In 2005, Richard Jaffray bought Scott Morison’s stake in the business.
